Tight Margins: Compression Garment Use during Exercise and Recovery—A Systematic Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Compression garments (CGs) are a popular tool that may act on physiological, physical, neuromuscular, biomechanical, and/or perceptual domains during exercise and recovery from exercise, with varying levels of efficacy. While previous reviews have focused the effects CGs running, high-intensity recovery, comprehensive systematic review assesses effectiveness garment use both after has not been recently conducted. Methods: A search literature earliest record until May 2022 was performed based PRISMA-P guidelines for reviews, using online databases PubMed, SPORTDiscus, Google Scholar. Results: 160 articles 2530 total participants were included analysis in review, comprised 103 ‘during exercise’ studies, 42 recovery’ 15 combined design studies. Conclusions: During limited effect global measures endurance performance but improve some sport-specific variables (e.g., countermovement jump height). Most muscle proteins/metabolites unchanged though blood lactate tend to be lowered. appear positive benefit subsequent bouts cycling time trials) resistance isokinetic dynamometry). associated reductions dehydrogenase consistently decreases perceived soreness following fatiguing exercise. This provide useful point reference practitioners researchers interested particular outcome or types.

Dental and skeletal changes during pressure garment use in facial burns: a systematic review.
OBJECTIVE Concern exists regarding the combined effect of the burn itself in addition to the continuous use of the pressure garments on craniofacial structures. The purpose of this systematic review was to evaluate the available evidence regarding dental and skeletal changes produced during pressure garment use in facial burns. METHODS Several electronic databases were screened for relevant a...
متن کاملWearing lower-body compression garment with medium pressure impaired exercise-induced performance decrement during prolonged running
OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of wearing a lower body compression garment (CG) exerting different pressure levels during prolonged running on exercise-induced muscle damage and the inflammatory response. METHODS Eight male participants completed three exercise trials in a random order. The exercise consisted of 120 min of uphill running at 60% of VO2max. The exercise trials included 1) ...
متن کاملREVIEW CURRENT OPINION Physical exercise during pregnancy: a systematic review
Recent findings Exercises during pregnancy are associated with higher cardiorespiratory fitness, prevention of urinary incontinence and low back pain, reduced symptoms of depression, gestational weight gain control, and for cases of gestational diabetes, reduced number of women who required insulin. There is no association with reduction in birth weight or preterm birth rate. The type of exerci...
